Little by Little

The old gate finally came down.

We are still making progress.

Little by little, we are getting there.

We scheduled to have the old gate replaced, and almost perfectly on cue, the last time it had to come down, it broke.

It came off the track and just sort of gave up.

The old Fresh Pops metal gate broken and partly off its track before replacement.

The repair crew came and managed to cut it out piece by piece and remove all of it.

It took all day.

We did not finally get the door down until midnight.

Then we went home.

That has been a good example of the whole buildout so far. Something that seems simple can take a long time and a lot of work. But each time one of these projects gets done, the space moves a little closer to becoming what it is supposed to be.

I really like the way the new gate turned out.

It feels, as the French would say, tres europeen.

Every day, things are getting done.

The list is still long, but it is shorter than it was.

The hallway next to the music room has been framed out, and even just walking through that framing feels inspiring. It is still rough. It is still construction. But I can start to picture what the room will feel like when people are actually inside it.

The closer we get, the more the little details start to feel like pieces of the bigger vision.

At this point, September or October feels like the most likely opening window, but it is hard to know exactly how fast construction will move.

For now, we keep chipping away.

More soon.
